$12B Sent To Hardest-Hit Hospitals; LI Hospital Got Most Money
HHS sent billions of dollars to hospitals that treated the most COVID-19 patients. A Long Island hospital reportedly got more than anyone.
NEW HYDE PARK, NY — A New Hyde Park hospital received more federal money than any other in America out of billions of dollars that were sent to hospitals that treated the most coronavirus patients, according to a report.
The federal Department of Health & Human Services sent $12 billion to nearly 400 hospitals that treated at least 100 COVID-19 patients through April 10, according to Beckers Hospital Review. The hospitals accounted for over 70 percent of COVID-19 inpatient admissions out of 6,000 hospitals nationwide.
Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park received about $278 million out of the $12 billion, more than any other hospital, according to the report. Elsewhere on Long Island, Sandra Atlas Bass Heart Hospital in Manhasset received about $138 million and NYU Winthrop Hospital in Mineola received about $108 million, according to the report.
