Children at Winthrop Hospital Enjoy Holiday Cheer

Volunteers from Mineola and Williston Park participate in Sen. Jack Martins toy drive.

Children at Winthrop-Univesity Hospital received some holiday cheer on Wednesday, thanks to a toy drive sponsored by Sen. Jack Martins, R-Mineola.

Students from nine local schools as well as volunteers from two libraries and volunteers joined Martins in delivering more than 2,000 toys collected in the annual holiday toy drive.

“The gift of a new toy always brightens a child’s spirits, and that’s even more important for children in the hospital who are going through tough times,” Martins said.

“The community’s extraordinary generosity will bring smiles to the faces of many children who could use some extra cheer,” he added.

The schools and libraries who participated in Senator Martins’ toy drive are:

· Bryant Library (Roslyn)
· Center Street School (Herricks School District)
· Cherry Lane Elementary School (Carle Place School District)
