Edward Elbert passed away on Sept. 28, 2013, at the age of 88.
He was a caring family man and will be greatly missed by all. Elbert was predeceased by his wonderful wife, Marie, eight years ago. His family states that it gives us all great comfort that she was waiting to greet him. We're sure he's up there saying "Wait until next year", for his Mets.
He is survived by his daughter, Kathy, his son-in-law, Bill, and his grandchildren Matthew, Melissa and Alison.
A wake was held on Oct. 4. A funeral mass was held on Saturday, Oct. 5, at Notre Dame Church in New Hyde Park.
