Floral Park Memorial High School senior Jacob Sinanan has been selected as a
semifinalist in the 66th annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

Every year, more than 1.5 million high school students across the nation enter this
academic competition by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying
Test, and approximately 16,000 of them are identified as semifinalists. Students who
receive this distinction represent the highest-scoring entrants in each state and have the
opportunity to advance to finalist status.

Sinanan is described as a respectful and kind student who has a passion for learning
and an exceptional work ethic. He has earned final grades in the high 90s in all of his
classes, and he has also reached mastery level on every Regents exam he has taken. Along
with focusing on his academics, Sinanan has also been a member of Mathletes, Chess Club
and Computer Programming Club.
