Floral Park Ranked Among Safest Places in New York

One of the greatest things about living in Floral Park is you don’t need to sleep with one eye open at night.

According to Alarm System Reviews, the village is the No. 22 safest place in New York.

To determine the safety rankings, the website used data from several national sources to find the number of violent and property crimes in towns with at least 2,500 residents. The website then used the total number of crimes and the reported population to assign an overall crime rate per 1,000 residents.

The rankings say Floral Park, with a population of 15,915, has a 0.6 violent crime rate and a 3.0 property crime rate per 1,000.

Floral Park is an incorporated village in Nassau County and is adjacent to the neighborhood of Floral Park in the borough of Queens. The village got its name from John Lewis Childs who arrived in the area in 1874 as a seed seller who eventually built his own seed and bulb business and is credited with starting the first seed catalog business in America.

Compared to Waterbury, Vt., however, Floral Park residents are living life on the edge. Vermont was ranked the No. 1 safest state in America and Waterbury is its safest town, according to Alarm System Reviews. New York was ranked the No. 16 safest state in America.

The rankings say the safest place in New York is Stockport, a town located south of Albany.
