Helen Ives Quick, 98, Secretary

Former New Hyde Park resident passed away on April 24, 2013.

Helen Ives Quick passed away on April 24, 2013 from Francis House in Syracuse, NY at the age of 98.

She was born in Norwich, NY on March 24, 1915 to William and Gladys Ives. Quick began her education in a one-room schoolhouse in Bainbridge, NY, graduating from Harrison High School and Barnard College of Columbia University where she earned a degree in math.

After graduation, she worked at Bell Laboratories in New York City. She married the love of her life, Stewart Quick, in 1947. They moved to Manlius, NY from New Hyde Park, NY in 1962 where she lived happily for over 50 years. She worked as a secretary at Gray Syracuse (when it was in Manlius), the Manlius United Methodist Church, as well as the Syracuse Canal Museum and in sales at Sibley's.

She was as active member of the Manlius United Methodist Church. Her greatest joys came from her faith, family, friends, furry pets and flowers. Every year she looked forward to family reunions with her many cousins. She always enjoyed music and learned to play piano from her mother.

She is survived by her son Bill Quick (Jackie); daughter Malinda Quick; grandchildren Hannah and Andrew Quick; nephew John N. Clemans; and 151 loved cousins.

A wake will be held on Friday, May 3, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Newell-Fay Manlius Chapel, 8171 Cazenovia Rd., Manlius, NY 13104. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 4, also in the Newell-Fay Manlius Chapel at 1:30 p.m. The interment will take place on Wednesday, May 22 in the Manlius Village Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
