Joseph F. Vitucci, Longtime New Hyde Park Resident, Dies At 87
New Hyde Park resident Joseph F. Vitucci, 87, loved sports, enjoyed a good Gin Martini and dancing with his wife, "Ro."

NEW HYDE PARK, NY — Joseph F. Vitucci, 87, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021, at his home in New Hyde Park.
Born May 1, 1933, in Brooklyn, N.Y., Vitucci was the son of the late Joseph and Catherine Vitucci. He married Rosemary Knoth Vitucci in 1957. The couple moved to New Hyde Park in 1961 where they raised their four children together and were active in the Cub Scouts of America, CYO Basketball, Notre Dame Church, and later, the Knights of Columbus and the American Association of Retired Persons.
Vitucci was a graduate of Brooklyn Tech High School and went on to become a mechanical engineer and worked for many years at Treadwell Corporation in New York City. He then worked as a project manager for the Hatch Corporation before retiring in 1988.

Vitucci loved to watch sports and was an avid fan of the Mets, Giants and Knicks, as well as the St. John’s University basketball team. He loved to golf — particularly the blue and yellow courses at Mt. Manor Inn and Golf Club in the Poconos. He also loved to fish, and enjoyed a good Gin Martini, veal francese, and dancing with his wife, Rosemary, who he affectionately called “Ro.”
Hs is survived by his wife, Rosemary; sons, Michael (Mary-Claire), and Matthew (Eileen); daughter, Claire (Simon); and seven grandchildren, Andrew, Grace, Thomas, Joseph, Mark, Keira, and Alaina. He is predeceased by his son, Joseph Jr., and his sisters, Katherine and Regina. A graveside service and interment will take place at Cemetery of the Holy Rood in Westbury, N.Y.
