LIRR South 12th Street Grade Crossing Closes Saturday

NEW HYDE PARK, NY – The grade crossing at South 12th Street will close on Saturday in preparation for its elimination as part of the LIRR Expansion Project.

According to the MTA, pedestrian crossing at South 12th Street will be prohibited until the construction of the new pedestrian underpass is completed next year.

For customers arriving at station platforms from the east using temporary westbound platforms, use the pedestrian bridge/stairs/underpass located at New Hyde Park Road as necessary. Head west on Plaza Avenue, turn south on Herkomer Street and proceed west along 2nd Avenue.

For customers arriving at station platforms from the east using temporary eastbound platform, use the pedestrian bridge/stairs/underpass located at New Hyde Park Road as necessary and proceed south on New Hyde Park Road. Turn right and head west on 4th Avenue toward South 12th Street. Turn right on South 12th Street heading northbound to 3rd Avenue and make a left on 3rd Avenue toward the temporary platform.

For customers arriving at station platforms from the west using, use the underpass at Covert Avenue as necessary and proceed east along 2nd Avenue.
