‘Male Subject’ Hospitalized After LIRR Disturbance: PD

BELLEROSE VILLAGE, NY — A “male subject” who allegedly menaced three women near a Long Island Rail Road station on Thursday “appeared to have a medical emergency,” requiring life-saving measures, including the opiate overdose reversal drug, Narcan, and was transported to an area hospital for treatment, Nassau County police said.

Homicide detectives said that at about 9:40 a.m., officers responded near the LIRR station in Bellerose for a call of a “male physically menacing three females at three separate locations.” The subject, whose identity has not been released, was found and was “acting irrationally” while he was detained by three people, and as the officers were placing him into handcuffs, he appeared to have “a medical emergency,” police said.

The officers “immediately removed his handcuffs and began life-saving measures,” administering “multiple doses” of the opiate overdose reversal drug, Narcan, before he was transported to an area hospital for treatment and evaluation, police said.

The investigation is ongoing, according to police.

A police spokeswoman said the man’s identity was not released because he was not arrested.

The spokeswoman declined releasing further details about the incident, including the “male’s” age and his condition before he was transported to the hospital, citing the department’s policy regarding the release of medical information.

Nassau police will not be releasing any further information at this time, according to the spokeswoman.
