Man, 71, Hit By Car In New Hyde Park, Dies Later In Hospital: PD

Breaking: Man attempting to cross Hillside Avenue suffered "multiple trauma injuries," police said.

NEW HYDE PARK, NY — A 71-year-old man was struck while attempting to cross Hillside Avenue in New Hyde Park died from “multiple trauma injures” in a local hospital a short time later, Nassau County police said.

Police said that just before 6 p.m. the man, who has not been identified, was attempting to cross Hillside Avenue from the south to the north side, near Cellar Avenue when he was struck by a 2018 Hyundai Tucson traveling eastbound. He suffered was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead at about 6:38 p.m by a hospital physician, police said.

The 60-year-old driver of the Hyundai remained at the scene and his vehicle went through a brake and safety check, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
