NEW HYDE PARK, NY — New Hyde Park voters headed to the polls Tuesday to cast ballots for Nassau County district attorney and Legislature, as well as key races in both Town of North Hempstead and Town of Hempstead.

Incumbents Madeline Singas, Richard Nicolello and Vincent Muscarella all successfully defended their seats Tuesday, as did Judi Bosworth in the Town of North Hempstead. Republican Tom Muscarella also earned a victory over Thomas Tweedy for Hempstead Town council in District 2, while Vincent Muscarella cruised past Barbara Hafner in the Legislature's 8th District.

In the Town of Hempstead supervisor race, Democratic incumbent Laura Gillen trailed Don Clavin. Clavin claimed victory in a Facebook post, writing he was "humbled and proud" to serve as the next supervisor.

"I knew going in we were up against a stacked deck, but that is never a good excuse not to fight for you," he wrote in a Facebook post. "In fact, we've inspired too many people along the way to ever give up."

Redmond added that his campaign aimed to give people a voice to air their concerns with local government.

In the Legislature District 8 race, Hafner thanked her supporters and conceded defeat to Vincent Muscarella.

"You win some and you learn some," she said, adding: "I can only hope the incumbents who have been elected reach out to all of our communities and truly represent the people they serve in the county."
