NEW HYDE PARK, NY - The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is suspending weekend train service between New Hyde Park and Hicksville through early February. MTA made the announcement Thursday. Passengers should plan accordingly.

Beginning this weekend, Long Island Rail Road will continue replacing switches within Nassau Interlocking, which is near Mineola Station. As a result, both Main Line tracks will be taken out of service for five Saturdays - Jan. 4, Jan. 11, Jan. 18, Feb. 1 and Feb. 8.

The work is part of the LIRR Expansion Project, which began Jan. 2018. The project aims to improve mass transit, reduce traffic congestion, protect the environment, and enhance quality-of-life for communities along the Main Line. The project is anticipated to be completed by late 2022.
