New Hyde Park Native Named Among Top 100 College Soccer Players

A New Hyde Park native has been ranked among the very best college soccer players in the country.

NEW HYDE PARK, NY — A New Hyde Park native has been ranked among the top 100 college soccer players in the country by Top Drawer Soccer, which ranks more than 3,000 players nationwide. Brian Saramago, a forward who plays for Loyola Maryland in the Patriot conference, was ranked No. 23 in the country by the soccer site.

Last year, Saramago and Barry Sharifi became Loyola's first All-Americans since 2008. It was just the third time in Loyola's history that two teammates earned the honor in the same year.

The former New Hyde Park Memorial High School player was also named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, earned his third consecutive All-Northeast Region honor and earned a third-consecutive All-Patriot League First Team distinction at forward.

Starting 16 of the teams 17 games last year, Saramago led the team in goals with eight and led the league in assists with eight. He ranked second with 24 points and tied for second in goals.

Loyola begins its season Friday against North Carolina State.
