New Hyde Park Restaurant Wins 2019 NY Empire Business Award

The restaurant has a reputation for opening its doors to community organizations, often generously providing dinners and catering.

NEW HYDE PARK, NY — A New Hyde Park restaurant has won New York's 2019 "Empire Business Award in recognition of their contributions and dedication to the community and state.

Democratic state Sen. Anna Kaplan announced Thursday that Nanking Asian Fusion, which serves Indian, Chinese and Thai cuisine on Hillside Avenue, had won the award. The restaurant has a reputation for opening its doors to community organizations, often generously providing dinners and catering.

Owners Mike Himani and Harkesh Yadav received the award Thursday.

"Nanking has truly become a home for the diverse communities of New Hyde Park to come together for a great meal and to work towards the betterment of our community," Kaplan said. "By generously hosting and supporting so many local groups, Nanking is helping these organizations to grow and thrive, so that they can improve the lives of our friends and neighbors."

The restaurant opened 15 years ago. Himani said they made it their mission to give back to local groups that bring the diverse community together and raise up neighbors "in need of a voice."

"We are so honored to be recognized by Senator Kaplan for our efforts, and will continue to do everything we can to support the community," he said.
