NEW HYDE PARK, NY — Utility crews are heading to New Hyde Park after a neighbor posted a photo on social media showing a snapped utility pole resting dangerously on power lines.

Twitter user @Nadia68 posted the photo around 4 p.m. Friday, saying the precarious situation had been going on for hours. The photo appeared to be taken near Jericho Turnpike and South 8th Street, near a Sprint store.

In response, PSEG Long Island tweeted back that it had relayed her message to so-called "escalation coordinators" to see if a work crew could address the downed pole by Friday evening.

"The estimate is by 11:15pm, but we are trying to make it much sooner than that," the utility wrote.
