NORTH NEW HYDE PARK, NY — Two Bronx men have been arrested after police said they used power tools to steal car parts in North New Hyde Park.
Two officers were patrolling near Jericho Turnpike and Barwick Street around 2 a.m. Sunday when they heard a loud cutting sound and saw heavy sparks and smoke coming out from underneath a parked gray vehicle.
Anthony Garcia, 26, of East 140th Street, removed a catalytic converter using a battery-powered saw, then handed the part to Johann Estrella, 33, of Bronx Boulevard, Nassau County police said. Both men were arrested without incident.
