Teen Bolts From Custody At Nassau County Detention Center: Report
The 13-year-old escaped briefly, fleeing down Old Country Road, but was brought back into custody a short time later, Nassau police said.
NEW HYDE PARK, NY — A 13-year-old boy bolted from the custody of his handlers at the Nassau County Juvenile Detention Center in Mineola on Friday, according to a report in The New York Post.
The teen, who was wearing the detention center’s standard blue jumpsuit, escaped by running down Old Country Road law enforcement sources told The Post.
He was apprehended and taken back into custody a short time later, a Nassau County police spokeswoman said Monday. She could not go into details as to why the juvenile was in custody at the detention center due to his status as a minor, a common policy throughout law enforcement agencies.
