Winter Storm Watch Issued For Long Island
BREAKING: See the latest snow total estimates, which are on the rise as the third nor'easter in 10 days approaches.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for Long Island as up to a foot of snow is expected to fall on parts of the island Monday and Tuesday.
The winter storm watch will be in effect from 8 p.m. Monday until 6 p.m. Tuesday. Snow total estimates are on the rise and the East End is expected to get hit the hardest (see snow total estimate maps below).

Winds could gust up to 45-50 mph.
"Plan on difficult travel conditions, including during the morning commute on Tuesday," the NWS says. "Significant reductions in visibility are possible. Downed trees, tree limbs and power outages are possible due to heavy wet snow and wind."

Snow or a rain/snow mix will likely begin either late in the afternoon or early Monday evening. As temperatures fall, the precipitation will change over to all snow.
The timing for steadiest and heaviest snow appears to be overnight Monday night into early Tuesday," the NWS says.
