Woman Rescued In Bellerose: Nassau Police

BREAKING: She had been sitting close to the edge of a second-story home roof, but officers were able to coax her back inside, police said.

BELLEROSE, NY — A distraught woman sitting close to the edge of a home’s roof in Bellerose was rescued on Monday, Nassau County police said.

Officers from the department's Emergency Services' Unit were called out to help the woman, who was near the edge of the second-floor roof of a third-story home, at about 2:30 p.m., police said.

The woman "appeared to be in crisis and was "very upset," police said.

Officers deployed webbing safety lines and rescue rope, as well as a "safety air cushion below for precautionary measures,” police said, adding, that officers from the 3rd Precinct spoke to her "in an attempt to calm her down," and between the group of the officer, they were able to coax her back inside to safety.

The woman was not injured, however, she was transported to a local hospital for an evaluation, police said.
