2 New Rochelle Victims, 1 Suspect In Baby Shower Shooting Id'd

NYPD told media outlets that both victims and the suspect in custody are all in their twenties and are all from here.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY ? The NYPD has released the identities of a suspect in custody and two gunshot victims killed Saturday following a dispute at a baby shower in the Bronx ? all three have ties to New Rochelle.

The dead men have been identified as Arnold Oliver, age 24 and Jamal Smith, age 28, in media reports. Police also confirmed that Wayne Smith, 28, of New Rochelle was arrested and charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon, according to the Norwood News.

Oliver was shot in the head and Smith was shot in the chest just before 11 p.m. on the sidewalk of the 3oo block of East 198th St., near Webster Avenue in the Bedford Park section of the borough. All three men are believed to have been attending a baby shower being held at a nearby event hall, according to CNN.

Investigators said Jamal and Wayne Smith are relatives.

Both wounded men were taken to St. Barnabas hospital where they were pronounced dead, police told the New York Post.

Police are still looking for an unidentified second suspect in connection with the fatal shooting.
