On Thursday, November 12th Alvin & Friends (14 Memorial Highway, New Rochelle; 654-6549) will welcome chef Arlen Gargagliano (formerly of Mambo 64) to be guest bartender for the evening, starting at 5 pm. Arlen will be serving her very popular, light, tasty and festive ginger-lemonade champagne cocktail, the perfect choice to kick off fall celebrations!
Arlen Gargagliano has always been enamored with Latin and Caribbean food — and culture! Most recently the chef/owner of Mambo 64 in Tuckahoe, a small restaurant that featured Latin and Caribbean-style small plates and cocktails, this New Rochelle resident is also an educator and cookbook author who has been a fan of Alvin & Friends from the start. Her book Calypso Coolers will be on sale during her guest bartending stint (a great holiday gift!)
Calypso Coolers: Recipes for 50 Caribbean Cocktails and 20 Tropical Treats (Stewart, Tabori & Chang) is a colorful collection of classic island libations – daiquiris, tropical punches, fruit martinis – along with equally tantalizing concoctions like the Dominican Hurricane, made with rum, passion fruit nectar.
