Call for Artists: Annual NRCA Members' Show
Performance set for March 5th at the New Rochelle Public Library; art exhibit will run March 5th through 31st
Every year the New Rochelle Council on the Arts features member artists in its Annual Exhibit and Showcase. This year the exhibit will run from March 5th to March 31st at the New Rochelle Public Library's Lumen Winter Gallery, and the performance -- which is free and open to the public -- will take place at the library's Ossie Davis Theater on March 5th at 3:30 pm. This year 's theme is IMPACT: ART FOR THESE TIMES, reflecting the cultural community’s response to these historic times of disruption, emotional conflict and uncertainty. NRCA welcomes contributions from the genres of visual arts, spoken word, written word and performance. Please consider the theme when submitting work or applying for performance. Participation is FREE to all NRCA MEMBERS, $35 registration fee for non-members.
For Performing Artists: The Variety Showcase will be Sunday, March 5th from 3:30 to 5 pm in the Ossie Davis Theater. It will be followed by the Exhibition Reception 5:30 pm in the Lumen Winter Gallery. Musicians, dancers, actors, and spoken word welcome. If you are interested in performing please contact Billie Tucker at purepurplelady@yahoo.com. Please prepare a performance of approximately 8- 10 minutes (time subject to number of participants). Performance applications due no later than February 22nd.
For Visual Artists: Please go to the NRCA website at www.newrochellearts.org for complete details. Two dimensional works should not exceed 20 lbs. and be wired for hanging; three dimensional works will be displayed in locked cases but no pedestals are provided (artists must supply their own). In both cases, JPG images must be submitted along with the name of artist, title, date, medium, and price. Include a short statement about the significance of the work in relation to the theme. Each artist may submit two (2) works, one of which will definitely be accepted (the second work may also be accepted, depending on available space.) There is a 20% commission to NRCA on all sales. For Written Word submissions, text is limited to an 8.5” x 11” size and 18pt font. Content to relate to theme. For information and submission contact Ken Valenti at Kenv42@gmail.com.
