Coastal Flooding Possible With Impending Rain

The National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood advisory.

With a forecast calling for heavy rain throughout the Hudson Valley Sunday, the National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood advisory. It will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday for southern Westchester.

There is a low threat of property damage, the weather service said.

Shallow flooding is expected in the most vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline.

One to 2 feet of inundation above ground level in low-lying, vulnerable areas can be expected.

Some roads and low-lying properties including parking lots, parks, lawns and homes and businesses with basements near the waterfront will experience shallow flooding, meteorologists said.

Additional minor coastal flooding is possible over multiple high tide cycles Monday and Tuesday.
