New Rochelle, NY– Staff, volunteers and youth at Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle welcomed Congressman Jamaal Bowman on April 8, 2021, with a Club tour. He also got the chance to speak directly to Club members to learn more about their interests, and the issues and challenges they are facing today. Congressman Bowman shared with our teens how important it is for them to be engaged and to “use your voice for change.”

Congressman Bowman stated that he ran for office “to solve the problems of everyday people like you.”

“Clubs like ours have a unique role as community leaders in providing valuable afterschool programs to our community’s youth that enable them to achieve great futures and to understand their power,” said Lutonya Russell-Humes, Executive Director. “Every day, Clubs provide kids and teens a safe space to go during out-of-school hours, giving them access to opportunities and experiences that can change and save their lives. We’re grateful to Congressman Bowman for taking the time to see our work in action and the incredible difference programs like ours can make on youth across Westchester County.”

Boys & Girls Clubs fill the gap between school and home and provide a welcoming, positive environment where kids and teens have fun, participate in life-changing programs and experiences, ready themselves for success in education, life and career, and build supportive relationships with peers and caring adults.
