Early Morning Traffic Stop Leads To DWI And Weapons Charges
State police found a loaded gun and a suspected drunk driver after pulling over a car on I-95 in Larchmont on Sunday morning.
LARCHMONT, NY — Two men were arrested following a traffic stop on I-95 in the early morning hours on Sunday. The drama unfolded after a New York State Trooper pulled a car over just before 3:30 a.m. for unspecified traffic and vehicle violations.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as 31-year-old Jovoni A. Coombs from the Bronx, was arrested for driving while intoxicated. While searching the car, police discovered a loaded Ruger 9mm SR9C handgun and a magazine containing 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
At this point, the passenger in the vehicle, identified as 27-year-old Peyton R. Coombs of McKinney, Texas, was also arrested.

Both of the men were charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree (loaded firearm), Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree (ammunition feeding device), and Criminal Possession of a Firearm. The driver also faces additional charges of Driving While Intoxicated and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree (previous felony conviction).
The pair were taken into custody and processed by New York State Police in Hawthorne. The two men were later arraigned at the Town of Pelham Court before being remanded to the Westchester County Jail.
