Erratic Driving Traffic Stop Leads To Gun Charges: NRPD

A Pennsylvania man was arrested on DWI and illegal weapons charges Saturday a.m. after being pulled over by police in downtown New Rochelle.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — An early Saturday morning traffic stop led to an arrest on multiple gun and drunken driving charges, New Rochelle police said.

After New Rochelle police officers spotted a vehicle driving erratically just before 7 a.m., they soon discovered the resulting traffic stop at North Avenue and Huguenot Street would not be a typical DWI arrest.

In addition to being intoxicated, the driver, Haji Jacobs of New Castle, Pennsylvania, also had illegal weapons in the car, officers said. The 29-year-old reportedly had a .40 Glock handgun magazine on his person. A search of his vehicle yielded a .40 Glock handgun and two illegally possessed 15-round magazines, according to a police report.
