Harbor Units Rescue 3 from Capsized Sailboat That Hit Reef
New Rochelle PD, Westchester County Marine Unit, Coast Guard and Mamaroneck Harbor Unit boats responded to the Memorial Day accident.

Long Island Sound, NY — The weather wasn't great for getting out on the water most of the holiday weekend, but a few boaters still managed to get themselves into trouble under clear skies on Memorial Day.
On Monday, just before 7 p.m, New Rochelle Police Department’s Marine I was called to a sailboat accident on the Long Island Sound near Davenport neck. The 27-foot Hunter sailboat had struck a reef and started to take on water.
The captain of the sailboat was able to guide the boat in the direction of the Davenport Beach Club. Still 100 yards from shore, the boat began to capsize. There were a total of four people on the sinking boat. The captain of the sailboat was able to swim to the beach club shore and call the police. The three remaining passengers remained on the mostly submerged boat.
