Help Shine A Light on Summer Sounds at Hudson Park This Summer
New Rochelle Council on the Arts raising money for better lighting at the Hudson Park Band Shell
The band shell at New Rochelle’s historic Hudson Park will once again be filled with the “sound of music” as the New Rochelle Council on the Arts (NRCA) presents its annual summer concert series from June 27th through August 31st. The Emil Paolucci Summer Sounds Concert Series, created by the NRCA, is in its 11th season and this year’s concerts will feature an eclectic menu of musicians performing everything from mellow jazz to opera to Salsa, Motown and even a Ray Charles tribute band.
But this year NRCA is hoping to shine a light on the free concerts at Hudson Park Bandshell by updating the antiquated lighting system. "Our concerts are growing, and the desire to play at the Hudson Park Bandshell increases as musicians from all over the country apply to be part of this series," says Nelissa Panszi-Riebe, NRCA Vice President for Membership. "But we need better lighting! We want to offer our audiences an even better experience by updating the lighting system."
NRCA is asking for donations to its "Turn on the Lights for the Sounds of Summer" Campaign. "No donation is too big or small," says NRCA President Theresa Kump Leghorn. " Our goal is to raise $25,000. Won't you help us turn on the lights?" Contributions can be made at www.newrochellearts.org. As a special thank you, NRCA will send contributors, via email, a sneak preview of the NRCA Summer Sounds Concert line up. "Donate now and be the first to know who will be performing!" says Melissa.
