Memorial Day Events 2021: New Rochelle

As pandemic-related restrictions ease, in-person Memorial Day ceremonies honoring the sacrifices of our military are returning this year.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Two longstanding events to honor the sacrifices of America's soldiers will take place in New Rochelle once again in 2021.

This Memorial Day, New Rochelle will host both a remembrance ceremony at Memorial Plaza and a waterside ceremony at Hudson Park. The events presented by the City of New Rochelle Veterans Advisory Committee will allow in-person attendance for those who wish to show their respect.

The remembrance at Memorial Plaza will begin at 10 a.m. The event will be emceed by Veterans Advisory Committee member and U.S. Marine Corps veteran Lupita Mendoza. Father Nicholas Blackwell O. Carm will deliver an invocation and Trumpeter Gianluca Veronesi from New Rochelle High School will play.

The waterside ceremony will take place at noon in Hudson Park. The New Rochelle Police Department Harbor Patrol will assist with the laying of a memorial wreath offshore in honor of those lost at sea.
