"A Moveable Feast" Offers Jazz Age Fun This Weekend
Fall fundraiser for the New Rochelle Public Library Foundation on Saturday, October 21st
Hemingway called Paris in the 1920s a “A Moveable Feast” and that’s the theme for the New Rochelle Public Library Foundation’s fall fundraiser, a “progressive dinner” (catered by Posto 22) that will take guests café hopping from floor to floor of the downtown library. The evening will have a 1920s vibe, with guests dancing to jazz, swing and blues by The Blue Vipers of Brooklyn and rubbing elbows with “celebrities” -- local library supporters dressed as Ernest Hemingway, Zelda Fitzgerald, George Gershwin, Josephine Baker and other luminaries, recalling the time when Paris was the center of all that was happening in the literary and artistic world.
A Moveable Feast will take place on Saturday, October 21st at 7 pm at the New Rochelle Public Library. Tickets cost $140 and include cocktail hour with appetizers, dinner, dessert, open wine and beer bar, live music, dancing, a silent auction with one-of-a-kind gifts and experiences, a wine pull – and the opportunity to help make our public library stronger and better for all! Details at www.nrplfoundation.org. Festive “era-inspired attire” is welcome.
The New Rochelle Public Library Foundation is a volunteer fundraising and advocacy organization working to ensure the future well-being of the Library. The NRPL Foundation, created in 1993, supports Library initiatives that enhance opportunities for learning, exploration and public discourse. Among the Foundation’s recent contributions, it provided more than $106,000 to partially underwrite the cost of the remodel of the Ossie Davis Theater; along with new seating and exterior signage and entrance work, the upgrade includes assistive listening technology, greater accessibility and upgraded fire suppression, HVAC and other systems. For more information call the NRPL Foundation at 914-632-7878, ext. 1600 or email info@nrplfoundation.org.
