New Long-Range Hudson Valley February Forecast Released

The National Weather Service has released its long-range forecast for the first half of February, and you may be surprised.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — It looks like we can put the snow shovels away, retire the winter jacket and start getting our spring attire ready soon. A winter that has been largely lackluster is expected to continue through at least the first half of February, according to a new report by the National Weather Service.

The US National Weather Service in Boston, MA said yesterday that "[Extended Forecast] while it's cold this morning all indications are for above normal temperatures to persist along the East Coast ... at least the first 10 days or so of February."

It's actually even more pronounced than that. From Feb. 1 through Feb. 8, the weather service shows temps will be far above normal on average. The Hudson Valley will see temps rise into the 50s next week.

It appears that we'll be a bit cooler but still above normal from Feb. 9 through the middle of the month, according to the weather service. The Weather Channel backs up the National Weather Service and shows daytime temperatures around the Hudson Valley remaining well above freezing each day from Feb. 1 through Feb. 13.
