New Roc City Uber Driver Stabbing Ends In Arrests
The driver had pulled over his car at North Avenue and Huguenot to let the passengers out of the vehicle when an altercation turned violent.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A rideshare driver had no idea he was putting his life in danger when he picked up a group at the New Roc City entertainment complex in New Rochelle over the holiday weekend, but now he is recovering after police say he was stabbed in the chest by a passenger.
Police have made arrests in connection with the attack that started as an argument between the Uber driver and his fare on Saturday afternoon. The driver had already pulled over his car near North Avenue and Huguenot to let the passengers out of the vehicle when the altercation turned violent, according to reports.
The Uber driver was stabbed twice in the chest, officials say. He was treated at Jacobi Hospital in the Bronx for what are described as non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the passengers fled the scene of the stabbing, but were apprehended a short time later. Four of the five passengers who were in the rideshare car were later arrested. Two women were charged with assault in connection with the attack. Two men who were in the car are facing weapons charges. One of the passengers was released without being charged.
Omar Gaines of the Bronx was charged with criminal possession of a weapon. The 18-year-old had a 9 mm handgun on him, according to cops. David Owens, also of the Bronx, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of a high-capacity magazine. According to authorities, the gun 20-year-old Owens was found with was a “ghost gun” with no visible serial number.

The identities of the two women arrested were not released because both are under the age of 18.
