NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Three suspects are still at large following an overnight carjacking and mugging near Chase Bank on North Avenue.
A New Rochelle police officer was flagged down just before midnight on Monday. A 23-year-old man told cops he had been robbed at gunpoint moments earlier. The victim said he was robbed of $3000 in cash. The thieves also stole his car.
The robbery victim said he had just withdrawn the substantial amount of money from the bank ATM. The victim told officers that he had taken the money out to purchase a car from an acquaintance. He was leaving the bank parking lot in his car when his path was blocked by three men in a blue sedan. The suspects then approached the victim and ordered him and a passenger out of his car. Police say at least two of the suspected carjackers had guns.
