New Rochelle PD Nabs Suspect In Fatal Bronx Shooting
NYPD investigators believed the suspects in a home invasion and shooting in the Bronx were from New Rochelle. One was arrested Tuesday.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A suspect in a home invasion and fatal shooting in the Bronx was arrested after NYPD detectives reached out to the New Rochelle Police Department for assistance.
Just hours after a detective from the New York City Police Department Bronx Homicide Division contacted the New Rochelle Police Department about a home invasion robbery in which the victim was shot and killed, New Rochelle Police had one of the suspects in custody. The NYPD investigator told New Rochelle cops on Sunday that he believed the suspects in the homicide investigation were from New Rochelle based on leads in the case.
The law enforcement agencies worked together to identify two suspects from New Rochelle connected to the case. A vehicle police believe may have been used in the crime was also identified.

On June 8, just after 4 a.m., a license plate reader triggered an alert to NRPD that the wanted car was found near Webster Avenue and Lincoln Avenue. Officers searched the area and police monitoring surveillance cameras soon spotted the car pulling into an address on Webster Avenue.

The car was located in the rear parking area of an apartment building at the address. A perimeter was quickly set up with police cruisers placed to block exits to prevent a potential car chase.
As the vehicle was being approached by police, the suspect jumped out of the car. After a brief foot chase, he was arrested.
Marlon Gardner of New Rochelle, was arrested and booked for second degree murder. The 23-year-old was later turned over to the NYPD.
