NRCA Annual Members Show Opens This Weekend
At the New Rochelle Public Library through March 28th
#UNFAKE: What is Your Truth? is the theme for this year’s exhibit by visual artists who are members of the New Rochelle Council on the Arts. The exhibit, in the Lumen Winter Gallery at the New Rochelle Public Library, opens Sunday, March 4th with a revue style performance by NRCA member performing artists at 3:30 pm in the library’s Ossie Davis Theater, followed by an artists’ reception at 5:30 pm. The show and reception are free and open to the public.
Exhibit curators Theresa Kump Leghorn and Melissa Panszi Riebe say that the theme “#UNFAKE” is intended to reflect the cultural community’s response to these historic times of disruption, emotional conflict and uncertainty. Participating artists this year include Tony Aversano, Frank Buddingh, Cristina Cerone, Ann Chiapetta, Justin Christopher, Alvin Clayton, Marie Hines Cowan, Rebecca Feldman, Amelia Jones, Joy Malone, Lisa Oquenda, Jesse Sanchez, Ruchama Schechter, Fran Sisco, Kelly Sisco, Roddie Steigman, Patricia Stuart, Joel Trieger and Judith Weber.
Billie Tucker is the producer for the Members’ Showcase, which will be emceed by local singer-songwriters Gary Novikoff and Nicole Alifante. Performers include Nicole Alifante, the Coleman Teen Dance Company, Julianna Dawson, Eric Katz, Claudine Nash, Garry Novikoff, Lisa Oqueda, Caroline Reddy, Fran Sisco & Alicia Giangrisostomi, Kelly Sisco, Angela Derecas Taylor, Monica Uhm and Ken Valenti.

“The annual members show is a wonderful window into the wealth of local talent right here in New Rochelle,” says Theresa Kump Leghorn, NRCA President. “The exhibit and the performance is an annual tradition that celebrates our members, and a great way to kick off Membership Month,” adds Melissa Panszi-Riebe, NRCA Vice President for Membership.
NRCA members receive a monthly e-newsletter and are invited to participate in special members-only events; the cost is $45 a year for regular members, $35 for artists (includes free entry in all NRCA exhibitions), $20 for students, and $125 for Businesses, with additional levels of support available.
