Nurses Urge Montefiore New Rochelle To Reopen Maternal Ward

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Nurses and some state and local officials called on Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital to reopen its maternal ward.

The unit for mothers and babies was closed when the new coronavirus pandemic began and the hospital had to make room for additional emergency room beds, the Journal News reported.

At a rally Tuesday, the New York State Nurses Association said it was a hardship for expectant mothers to travel out of New Rochelle for medical care.
