Overnight Armed BMW Carjacking In Driveway Of Home

Police are investigating a report of an armed robbery and carjacking in the driveway of a New Rochelle home.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A New Rochelle resident told police that a man armed with a handgun robbed him of jewelry and a BMW in the driveway of his own home.

The 39-year-old told police that after he pulled into his driveway and exited his car, he observed a Hyundai sedan drive past. The victim says he was then confronted by a man brandishing a gun a few moments later.

The unknown suspect reportedly ripped the man’s chain from his neck before jumping in the car and speeding away. The stolen BMW and the Hyundai were last seen fleeing the area on Beechwood Avenue headed in the direction of Main Street.

The reported armed robbery took place just before midnight in a residential section of Beechwood Avenue.

The suspect in the carjacking is described as a black man in his twenties wearing a dark colored gator-style mask and a N.Y. Yankees baseball cap, according to police.
