Democrats Lead In Congressional Races; Vote Tallies Incomplete

Only one race — between Antonio Delgado and Kyle Van De Water — has reported all election districts.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — There are trends showing in two of the Hudson Valley congressional races, with Democrat Jamaal Bowman in the 16th Congressional District race and Democrat Mondaire Jones in the 17th with healthy leads.

As of midnight, returns for the two races were slow to come in. Bowman leads Patrick McManus of the Conservative Party 71 percent to 13 percent. According to the state Board of Elections only 213 out of 732 districts have reported.

Jones leads Republican Maureen McArdle Schulman in the 17th Congressional District 49 percent to 38 percent, with 260 out of 631 districts reporting.

In the 18th Congressional District, Democrat Sean Patrick Maloney is leading Republican Chele Farley 48 percent to 46 percent, with 478 out of 618 districts reporting.

Incumbent Rep. Antonio Delgado is leading Republican Kyle Van De Water by 3 percentage points with all districts reporting. However, the state said only 297,000 votes have been tallied out of 476,000 active registered voters.

Two incumbent congressmen are being challenged in Congressional District 18 and 19; one race will find a replacement for Democratic Rep. Eliot Engel who was ousted during the primary in Congressional District 16 and the fourth will find someone to take over from a long-time congresswoman who retired in Congressional District 17.

In the 16th Congressional District, Democrat Jamaal Bowman is competing against Conservative Party candidate Patrick McManus in the heavily Democratic district to replace long-time Rep. Eliot Engel who was defeated in the Democratic primary.

In the 17th Congressional District, Democrat Mondaire Jones is running against Republican Maureen McArdle Schulman, Conservative Yehudis Gottesfeld, Serve America Movement Party's Michael Parietti and Independent Joshua Eisen. They all are vying to take over from Rep. Nita Lowey who announced her retirement in October 2019 after 31 years.

In the 18th Congressional District, Democratic Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney is running for his fifth term in office. He is being challenged by Republican Chele Farley and Scott Smith of the Serve America Movement Party.

In the 19th Congressional District, first-term Democratic Rep. Antonio Delgado is running for re-election against Republican Kyle Van De Water, Green Party candidate Steven Greenfield and Libertarian Party candidate Victoria Alexander.
