Retired New Rochelle Fire Captain John J. Imperioli, 78

Imperioli was also an Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 90 in Mamaroneck.

John J. Imperioli, a lifelong resident of New Rochelle, died on December 13, 2014. He was 78.

John was born on June 12, 1936 in New Rochelle to the late John, Sr. and Angelina (Gianotti) Imperioli. He was a retired Captain for the New Rochelle Fire Department, having worked for more than 30 years where he was known as “Captain Jab”. He was an Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 90 in Mamaroneck.

He is survived by his wife the former Marie A. Balascio whom he married on January 19, 1957; his daughter JoAnn (Gus) Astorino; his brother Louis (Barbara) Imperioli; sister Linda (Tom) Grimaldi; sister-in-law Madeline (Elaine) Imperioli and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his beloved son James who died 2007, his sister Mary Anne Bocek and his brother Sisto (Ted) Imperioli.

Visiting hours were held Tuesday at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel Inc., 16 Shea Pl, New Rochelle. A funeral Mass was held Wednesday at Holy Name Church, and interment followed at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Pancreatic Society or Holy Name Church.
