Services Set For NYPD Officer Killed In Crash

The New Rochelle resident was on his way home from work when the accident occurred.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Services for the New York Police Department officer killed Jan. 16 in a traffic accident have been set. Visitation for Brian A. Kessler, 28, of New Rochelle, will be held Tuesday, Jan. 22 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Westchester Funeral Home in Eastchester.

Kessler's funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Tuckahoe. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven.

Kessler was killed in the Bronx Jan. 16 while on his way home from 1 Police Plaza in Manhattan.

He collided with a vehicle from the NYC Parks Department on Shore Road shortly after 8 a.m.

Kessler is survived by his fiancée Denise Vargas, his parents Kenneth and Nancy (Landolfe) Kessler and his brother Timothy Kessler.

According to his obituary, he graduated from the NYPD academy April 25, 2018, and was assigned to Police Service Area 8 in the Bronx.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the NYC PBA Widows and Children's Fund, 125 Broad St., 11th floor, NY, NY 10004.
