Snow Possible On Christmas Day In Hudson Valley

It's likely not going to be a blockbuster storm like we had last week.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The Hudson Valley may have a White Christmas this year, though nothing like what we saw come out of the sky last week.

The National Weather Service has snow in the forecast for all parts of the lower and mid-Hudson Valley for Monday night and also for Christmas Day on Friday.

That doesn't take into account the snow that is already on the ground from the nor'easter last Wednesday into Thursday.

Depending on how much snow is still around by Friday — Monday's temperature got well above freezing and by Thursday it could reach the mid-50s along with rain — all it would take to actually be called a White Christmas is having 1 inch of snow on the ground, according to Climate.gov.

"The same storm that will bring the snow-eating rain could end as snow late Christmas Eve into Christmas day in some parts of the Northeast and mid-Atlantic, leaving behind a fresh white blanket," said AccuWeather meteorologist Jake Sojda.

There is already a hazardous weather outlook for Columbia, Dutchess and Ulster counties that said a storm system will move through the region from Christmas Eve through Christmas Day. Rain may become a wintry mix and then change to snow as colder air moves in behind the storm.

In any event, here is the forecast for northern Westchester through Christmas from the National Weather Service:
