Staffer Who Has Never Taken a Sick Day to Receive ARC of Rockland's MLK Award
The Congers-based agency will present the Martin Luther King Jr Award to New Rochelle resident Ligia Ryan Friday.

Ligia Ryan, a Direct Support Professional with ARC of Rockland will receive the agency’s coveted Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Award Jan. 16 at ARC Headquarters in Congers.
Ms. Ryan has been employed by ARC for 21 years. During her tenure with the agency she has never taken a sick day.

“Ligia’s dedication to the people we support is exemplary,” says ARC Executive Director Carmine Marchionda. “Her work ethic reflects a deep commitment to the mission and vision of ARC. Our focus is on ensuring that the individuals who count on ARC are integral members of the community-at-large.”
Ms. Ryan, of New Rochelle, NY, was nominated for this award by ARC Director of Senior Services Juliet Asamoah.

“Ligia is experienced, compassionate and resourceful,” says Ms. Asamoah. “She understands the needs of the individuals with whom she works, and she finds ways in which to connect with each person. Ligia believes wholeheartedly that people should be recognized for their abilities.”
ARC of Rockland’s Dr. Martin Luther King Award is presented annually to the person or persons who, through actions and deeds, follow in the footsteps of Dr. King.
