4 Ways to Make a Bee Friendly Backyard

Cornell Cooperative Extension is offering a workshop in July on the benefits of landscape practices that support beneficial insects.

Cornell Cooperative Extension in Rockland County wants people to learn about the essential roles of bees other pollinators -- and how to make their lawns and gardens friendly to beneficial insects.

The folks there are offering a workshop in July.

  • TOPIC: Bee Friendly Backyards: Promoting Landscape Practices that Support Pollinators and Other Beneficial Insects
  • DESCRIPTION: Pollinators are facing numerous challenges these days, ranging from habitat reduction to mysterious illnesses such as colony collapse disorder. Come learn about common pollinators (not just bees!) and four, easy ways to make your backyards and gardens prime habitats for these essential creatures. Part of this hour-long class will be held outside in our demonstration gardens to discuss and show pollinator-friendly garden plants.
  • WHEN: July 12th at 10AM or July 14th at 7PM
  • WHERE: CCE Rockland Education Center, 10 Patriot Hills Drive, Stony Point, NY.
  • COST: $15 in advance; $18 at the door. Advance registration and payment is required by July 11th for the $15 admission.
