Charles Crawford Henderson

Charles Crawford Henderson, 95, of Piermont, NY, passed away on March 25, 2016.
Charles was born in Biloxi, Mississippi, on July 26, 1920, son of Hunt Henderson and Jeanne Crawford Henderson of Biloxi and New Orleans, LA. He attended The Asheville School in Asheville, NC, and continued on to study at Tulane University. During World War II, Charles served in the U.S. Coast Guard.
A lifelong dedicated angler who traveled and fished all over the globe, Charles was also an amateur meteorologist and an enthusiastic supporter of fire companies from New Orleans to Piermont. Among his many travels, Switzerland—and in particular, The Matterhorn—was his favorite place on the earth.

He is survived by his two daughters, Nancy Leigh Burton and Patricia Charlee Lewis; their spouses, George Burton and Steven Lewis; ten grandchildren and their spouses, (Anne Burton and Scott Ferguson, Isabel Burton and Lyle Kula, Claude Burton and Jennifer Smith, Cael and Melissa Kenady Lewis, Nancy Lewis and Michael Domitrovits, Adelyn Lewis and Jonathon Pedro, Clover Lewis and Jeffrey Trapani, Daniel and Elizabeth Grant Lewis, Bay Lewis, Elizabeth Bayou-Grace Lewis); and twenty great-grandchildren (Tibeau Ferguson, Odin Ferguson, Axel Kula, Leon Burton, Clay Lewis, Devin Lewis, Maddie Lewis, Connor Domitrovits, McGroary Domitrovits, Charlee Domitrovits, Emma Domitrovits, Isabella Pietrosanti, Jack Pietrosanti, Cade Pietrosanti, Marguerite Pietrosanti, Schuyler Trapani, Eleanor Lewis, Hatteras Lewis, Bridger Lewis, Delilah Lewis).
Charles was preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanor Sharp Henderson, the mother of his children, his second wife, Margaret Stevenson Henderson, and his third wife, Luanne Boone Henderson.

Cremation arrangements are being handled by Hannemann Funeral Home in Nyack, NY. His ashes will be interred in the Rockland Cemetery in Sparkill, NY.
A small private memorial service will be held at the family’s convenience.
