Don't Get Used To Warmer Temps, Hudson Valley

After this week, 40 degrees is at least moderate if not exactly warm. But here's what's coming Friday-Sunday.

Frigid temperatures have moderated slightly, but that won't last long. "In terms of staying power? Colder air arrives again for the weekend and then the roller coaster repeats as we head into early next week," said Alex Marra and Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather.

Temperatures should moderate further, reaching the upper 40s and lower 50s on Friday, according to the National Weather Service. The average for New York City at this time of year is a high of 47 degrees.

That is, they'll moderate before a cold frontal passage Friday night. But by 5 a.m. Sunday, it'll be 17 degrees, the NWS predicts. On the happy side, it's going to be a dry weekend.
