Girl Scouts Sell Cookies Pandemic-Style At The Palisades Center
Girl Scout cookies are a perennial comfort food, welcome amid all the changes, scouting and mall officials said.

WEST NYACK, NY — Wanting to get out of the house? Here's another reason: on weekends during March, Palisades Center’s guests can purchase their favorite Girl Scout Cookies at socially distant and contact-free cookie booths throughout the mall.
"This year has changed a lot for us all in so many ways. That certainly rings true for Girl Scouts," Jackie Camilo, Cookie Chair for the Suffern Central Service Unit, told Patch.
Camilo said the past year has been filled with virtual meetings which means many authentic scouting elements have been out of the picture.

"Our meetings have revolved around perseverance, keeping a positive attitude and setting personal goals for ourselves in the year 2021," she said.
Yes, the scouting world looks different, she said. Girls were encouraged to use their digital platforms to reach new and former customers. Her troop was able to sell cookies in person at the Palisades Center March 5. While it was different, with precautions for social distancing, they worked together to engage customers.

Palisades Center is glad the Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson’s Girl Scout Cookie Program is happening again, said Darrin Houseman, the mall's General Manager.
“We are happy to provide free space in the Center to non-profit organizations to achieve their goals," he said, citing the skills and the attributes the girl scouts learn such as persistence, confidence, and healthy risk-taking, to become future business founders and leaders.
"Girl Scout cookies are a perennial comfort food and this year will provide a sense of normalcy and consistency in an ever-changing environment," said Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson CEO Marie Reger. "Our partnership with Palisades Center gives girls the chance to hone their entrepreneurial skills while maintaining their health and safety amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and providing moments of joy to Rockland County’s neighbors and communities."
