Hazardous Weather Outlooks For Parts Of Hudson Valley

The NWS has placed most of eastern NY within a marginal risk for excessive rainfall that could lead to flash flooding.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Stormy weather is expected across the region and hazardous outlooks have already been issued.

For Orange and Rockland counties, the National Weather Service said its Storm Prediction Center has placed the area in a marginal risk for severe weather. The most likely time of any stronger storms capable of producing gusty winds, heavy localized rain, and small hail would be towards evening.

For Dutchess and Ulster counties, the Storm Prediction Center has placed portions of the southeast Catskills and mid-Hudson Valley within a Marginal Risk for severe thunderstorms Monday into the evening. Scattered thunderstorms are expected. Some may contain isolated damaging wind gusts. The area may be expanded northward with later updates.

Also, the Weather Prediction Center has placed most of eastern New York and adjacent western New England within a marginal risk for excessive rainfall for Monday into the evening. Isolated flash flooding is possible in areas that receive multiple rounds of thunderstorms containing heavy rainfall. Urban/poor drainage areas will be most susceptible to isolated flash flooding.

"An unsettled day ahead for the region, so make sure to keep the rain gear handy," Alex Marra and Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather said on Facebook.
