Hospital Celebrates 400th COVID-19 Patient Discharged In Nyack

There were a lot of happy people, including the Piermont Fire Department, as the number of discharged coronavirus cases hit 400.

NYACK, NY — The 400th person to leave Montefiore Nyack after being nursed through COVID-19 received quite a send-off.

"Holy mackerel!" he exclaimed as he rounded a corner into the lobby, surrounded by staff. What awaited just outside was a crowd of masked, happy, clapping people.

The staff at Montefiore Nyack Hospital have all been essential for the past two months. Rockland County has been hard-hit by the new coronavirus, with 11,708 confirmed cases and 511 deaths. As of Thursday, there were 190 people hospitalized in the county with confirmed cases of COVID-19 and another 25 hospitalized cases under investigation.
