McCourty Twins, Natives Of Nyack, Make Super Bowl History
They started playing together as kids in Rockland, but this Patriots season was their first time as teammates since they played at Rutgers.

NYACK, NY — Patriots defensive backs Devin and Jason McCourty made history in Sunday’s Super Bowl matchup with the Rams. All of Nyack is celebrating with the twins, who grew up in Nyack and played Pop Warner football in the Valley Cottage league as kids, and their mother, Phyllis Harrell.
This season with the Patriots was their first opportunity to be teammates since they played together at Rutgers University, the Associated Press reported.
Now Jason has a Super Bowl ring and Devin has three.

“It’s a beautiful thing,” Jason said at a post game press conference according to nj.com. “From 0-16 (with the Browns) last year to Super Bowl champion this year. It started with a text in March when Dev texted Bill (Belichick) and said, ‘Two McCourtys are better than one’. I guess he believed that. Tonight, he believes it.”
Jason spent eight years in Tennessee before last season in Cleveland.

According to AP sports writer Kyle Hightower, Devin was Jason’s biggest fan through the 2018 season. They stuck close together in the Patriots facility, and Devin helped Jason become an integral part of the franchise.
And in the championship game, Jason made a great play to prevent a touchdown pass from Rams quarterback Jared Goff to Brandin Cooks, who was clear in the end zone till McCourty swooped in.
