Memorial Day Ceremony At Mount Moor Cemetery
The historic cemetery, where veterans from the Civil to the Korean war are buried, is accessible from F Lot at the Palisades Center.

WEST NYACK, NY — On Memorial Day, the Friends of Mount Moor Cemetery will hold a wreath-laying ceremony at the historic burial ground for Black veterans.
Mount Moor Cemetery, preserved by the Historical Society of Rockland County, "has provided burial space…including veterans of the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, World Wars I and II, and the Korean War. The grounds have been maintained since 1940 by the Mount Moor Cemetery Association, Inc."
The keynote speaker will be Rockland Legislator Toney L. Earl. During the event, special recognition will be given to PFC Henry William Cook, Jr.

The Friends of Mount Moor Cemetery was founded earlier this year to protect the graveyard, which dates back to 1849. The Palisades Center mall was constructed in 1997 and the parking lots were built around it.
